This post was sponsored by Schwans, the compensation I received was just the ingredients for this lovely dinner however all opinions and experiences are my own, all further purchases at the door etc, were my own and not sponsored.
So I went online to Schwans website, looked around for a while. I got totally hungry and unable to decide exactly what I wanted so I had to enlist the help of The Mister to make the executive decision. He chose the Top Sirloin Steak, of course. I should have known and just gotten that in the first place. I however got to decide what else to make. I decided on the Roasted Baby Bakers, and Kaiser Rolls for dinner. I was going to get a veggie but I had garden fresh Corn on the Cob.
I was able to get some other awesome things as well. As you know I have kids, and my kids are picky eaters. However they LOVE the Schwans Man. I was able to grab some of their favorites! They were stoked when I told them that Chicken Fries and Crispy Taters were on the way.
When the Schwans guy (John) came to the door he showed me this……. Ugh I am not sure if I am grateful or I hate him for it, mostly because I ended up ordering the Four Cheese Penne with the Prosciutto, Mini Donuts and the Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches. I couldn’t believe it. Normally I have some awesome, willpower when it comes to things like that. Apparently not yesterday! I get to put some of that blame on The Mister, he said I could… or that’s my excuse anyway. It was really great that the delivery guy even had the other items I wanted in his truck, so there wasn’t a second trip! Check out that service.
Now, I don’t claim to be The World’s Best Cook, I can’t even make Hamburger Helper. Don’t ask, I just can’t do it. However I can make a mean steak!
When I made the steaks, I defrosted them in the sink. I think microwave defrosting makes the meat taste weird. I seared them on both sides then placed the entire pan into the oven at 400 degrees to finish them off. It was nice because I was able to cook the Baby Bakers at the same temperature. WIN WIN!! For seasoning I simply used some Montreal Steak Seasoning which is just some Sea Salt, Pepper, and Herbs.
I will admit that I did not have high hopes for the potatoes however, they I was wrong. The potatoes were awesome! I just put some butter on them and we all scarfed them down. I get that scarfed is not the prettiest word but, that’s what happened. My super picky 10 year old even asked for SECONDS!! Seconds, that is such a foreign concept to me that I almost had to ask him twice what he meant. He had more steak too!
I feel like I should have made some gravy to go with, but I wasn’t thinking about it so I didn’t. Go ahead, judge.
Since my kids were so awesome about eating their dinner. All of it with NO complaints. I decided it was a good time to give them the Bomb Pops that I got for dessert.
